> Memorials - Rod Pike

Rod Pike was a successful businessman,
leader, and mentor; a hockey player all his life;
a caring family man. In business, in sport and
in life, he was a true team player who always
asked the best of himself and brought out the
best in others.

Born and raised in Fredericton, NB, he was a
proud Maritimer who loved a good game of
hockey. Rod played four seasons on defence
for the UNB men's hockey team, under
coaches Bill MacGillivary and Don MacAdam,
form 1976-1980. He followed his father, Jim,
who played for UNB in the late 1940's.
After graduating from UNB in 1980 with a
Bachelor of Business Administration degree,
Rod built a successful career in banking:
first with Royal Bank in Atlantic Canada and

Ontario, then with MBNA Canada and
Bank of America in Ottawa and the United
Kingdom before serving as CEO of BofA
Canada Bank.

Rod Died in November 2013 at age 55,
following a courageous battle with cancer.

In his memory, Rod's wife, Deborah, and
family have established an award in his name
at the University of New Brunswick. The
Rod Pike Memorial scholarship is awarded
to a UNB player who has special leadership
abilities, a high complete level and goes the
extra mile for the team and his team-mates.
This special award was first awarded in
November, 2014.
