Peter Violette
1945? - 1963
Pete, as he prefered to be called, played only one year for the Red Devils, 1962/63. He had 4 assists in 10 games with 6 penalties for a total of 12 minutes. This was his Freshman year at UNB - it also marked the Senior year for his cousin - Joel Violette who had scored 10 goals and 5 assists for 15 points in 10 games.
Pete died in a traggic car accident in the Summer of '63. Members of the Red Devils created the Pete Violette Award in his memory, to be presented to the Most Valuable Defenceman on the Senior Varsity Hockey Team (UNB had a Junior Varsity Team for a number of years).
This award was renamed in 2002/03 as the Top Defenseman Award.
