Michael Cavanagh Memorial Plaque

In memory of Mike Cavanagh, a valued member of the UNB Varsity Reds
Hockey Team from 1991 to 1994. His pursuit of excellence and dedication
to the hockey program helped shape the success of the Varsity Reds at
that time. He had a talent of keeping teammates' spirits high even at
the worst of times. His smile illustrated the appreciation he had for
others along with his true desire to live life to its absolute fullest.
His enthusiasm and love of the game lives on within the program.

Mike graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a degree in
Education with the goal of someday becoming a teacher. His friendly,
outgoing nature made him popular with the university and in the community
at large. He is remembered and missed by his teammates, peers, and all
those he touched while at the University of New Brunswick.

In honour of his memory, a Mike Cavanagh Memorial Merit Award will be
granted annually to a player on the UNB Varsity Reds Hockey Team. The
award will be presented to the player that demonstrates academic
capability and a capacity to experience life to its fullest. The first
presentation of this award will be made November 14, 1998.
