UNB lost only Ed McLellan, Galen Parent and Henri Girard from the championship team and Pete Kelly bought goalie Dave Inch back along with rugged defenseman Don Wells and forward Ken Marchant. Highly regarded recruit Larry Walker left University after a few exhibition games and Joel Violette opted to play with the Caps. The Red Devils didn't play in any organized league before the Intercollegiate season (mostly after Christmas), but did play a set of exhibition games against Colby College and appeared in the RPI International Tournament over the Christmas holidays. They were a combined 3-2-1 against US Universities when you factor in a 2-1 win over Yale. In the Intercollegiate League UNB got strong scoring from Ron "Bomber" Andrea (8-12), Don Morrow (6-8) and Ken Marchant (8-4). Dave Inch led the league with a 2.78 goals against, which could only mean that the team underachieved. Home losses to STU (3-1) and Mt. A. (4-3) sealed their fate. UNB Junior Varsity lined up several exhibition games and recorded an 8-1 record. Their goalies were Tom "Spots" Lewis and Jack White, while the offense was carried by Ian Poole (15-11), Wayne Nugent (12-7), Don Ciotti (13-3) and Earl Bodiker (8-7).
