In November the Lady Beaverbrook Rink was opened with Dave Burpee as Manager. The dimensions were 195x83 and seated 1650. It had four dressing rooms, an officials room, a First Aid Room and a Canteen. This would give UNB, FHS and Schoolboy hockey a place to play and would soon have a notable effect on the quality of Minor hockey player coming along. UNB had only five players ( Peter Coombes, Pete Mockler, John Sears, Dave Todd and Stan Trzop ) from the team that went 5-0-1 the previous season. They went with a nearly all rookie team, but did uncover a fine prospect in Jim McNutt from Fredericton High. Western Universities (UNB, STU, St. Dunstan's and Mt. A) played three home and home series against each other, for a total of six games. The team with the best record would tangle with the Eastern winner for the Maritime title. It was another tough season for UNB, as they went 0-6 and goalie Claude Brown gave up 5.52 goals per game in the six tilts. Peter Coombes was again the top scorer with 3-5-8, followed by Pete Mockler (3-2) and McNutt (2-3). Ernie Fitsimmons, The History of Hockey in Fredericton: Volume 2
