UNB vs UdeM

There has been much debate and speculation around UNB's record against UdeM at the Atiken University Centre (AUC) in recent years. Many people have thought it goes back for nine or ten years. The following puts some 'real' dates and scores to those matches. First off, the big streak is over! UdeM ended it with a playoff win, in game three, over UNB in the first round of 1998/99 playoffs. Also, their regular season win in the first half of the 1999/00 season ended the Regular season record. How long was the streak - the following should answer all your questions.

Ten Years of UNB vs UdeM, at the AUC?

Some might ask why the question mark is in the title - well it stems from a UNB/UdeM exhibition game held in Woodstock where UNB was the host 'home' team. That game, a victory for UNB, is counted in the following stats. The ten years start at the beginning of the 1990/91 season and end in 1999/00 and saw these two teams match-up 32 times, at the AUC, with UNB as the home team (31 at the AUC, 1 in Woodstock). UNB's record was 27-3-2 with an average score of 5.5 versus UdeM's 3.1.

Undefeated Streak at Home

During this time UNB was able to string together an undefeated streak of 25 games (8 wins, a tie and 16 wins) averaging 6 'goals for' versus UdeM's 3. It started with a victory in the first meeting in 1991/92 and ended on game three of the playoffs in 1998/99 (list of wins). UNB was undefeated for 18 league games (17-0-1), 6 playoff games (6-0-0) and one Exhibition game (1-0-0).

Conclusion

Needless to say, UNB has had great success against UdeM in the past decade despite having 5 different Head coaches (Mike Johnston, Danny Grant, Mike Kelly, Tom Coolen and Gardiner MacDougall).
