A native of Morell, PEI, Don MacAdam has had a legendary
hockey career as a player, coach, owner, author and agent.
He graduated from UN with both a Bachelor of Physical
Edcation (1973) and a Master of Physical Education - Sports
Administration (1978). He was a UNB Red Devil (1970-72) and
a former team captain who later played four years profes-
sional hockey in North America and Europe.
Don started his coach career at UNB in 1976 as an assistant
coach for two seasons and then took over the head coaching
position (1977-85). He had an 88-926 record culminating in an
AUAA Championship in 1984. Don then began an adventure
that took him throughout the world where he as coached
over 1300 professional games.
Don was inducted into the PEI Sport Hall of Fame in 2006 and has
written five books about hockey. In 2009 his former UNB
players and the "84" Champpionship team established the
Don MacAdam Hockey Scholarship, awarded annually to a
player demonstrating dedication to superior fitness
training and leadership.
