Don MacAdam was back in charge at UNB, with Jerry Kelly and Jim Dalton as his assistants. The Red Devils lost a lot of defense in Kevin Rochford, Dave Mancuso, Kurt Rugenius and Dave Bluteau (to Herentals Belgium), but added Rob Forbes, John Leblanc, Al Lewis, Mark Hovey, Charlie Cameron and goalie David Lutes. Forbes had set a MVJAHL record with 130 points for Halifax Lions. Goalie Jamie Frizzell left school before the season started and Dave Lutes came down with eye trouble. Rod Babcock joined Omer Fournier in the Red Devils cage until Lutes came back later in the year. The Red Devils lost their first four games and were never in the playoff hunt (10-14-0). They scored lots of goals (3rd), but finished last in goals against. Rob Forbes (32-34) won the scoring title, while Mark Jeffrey (20-39) finsihed third and John Leblanc (23-34) was fifth. Forbes was named top rookie and a second team All-Star, where he was joined by Jeffrey , who was also chosen as UNB Male Athlete of the Year. Leblanc twice had seven point games.
