UNB coach Don MacAdam lost defenseman Dave Neill and John Pollabauer, along with several low scoring extras. After a 3-16-1 record, he was looking forward to what he added. The key player was former pro Sid Veysey, along with defensemen Dave Bluteau and Dave Wright, plus goalies Kevin Rochford and Scott Brogan. Other newcomers were Mike Goodfellow, Claude Grenier, Dave kent and Shawn McMahon. Veysey proved a real find, as he finished 4th in the West in scoring (25-28), while Gary Agnew and John Kinch both scored 20 times in the 27 game schedule. Offense wasn't a problem, as Brian Craig (11-30), George Wood (17-22), Craig Crawford (9-16) and Dave Bluteau (4-24) all managed a point per game, while Dave Wright scored well from his blieline post and led the team with 76 Penalty minutes. The Devils did give up 5.22 goals per game as defense wasn't their strength. One of the lowlights of the season was losing a 6-3 game to cross town rivals St. Thomas Tommies, but in their next meeting the Devils exacted revenge with an 11-3 romp, led by four goals from John Kinch.
